This program accompanies ZeroVirus, and makes updating BrainFiles even
easier than before.
The ZeroVirus LEARN option allows you to include your own bootblocks in the
ZeroVirus BrainFile. However, new BrainFiles issued by the author will not,
of course, contain these, and so you would have had to LEARN them all again.
UDBF (UpDate BrainFile) allows you to, effectively, join two BrainFiles
together to make a third. However, UDBF will make sure that the new BrainFile
does not repeat any bootblocks, as would be the case if the AmigaDOS "Join"
command (or similar) was used.
UDBF is very easy to use. When it starts, you are presented with four
gadgets. The first three, labelled
First BrainFile
Second BrainFile
Output BrainFile
are the string gadgets you enter the filenames into. The filenames should
include complete pathnames. For example, say you wanted to UDBF your old
BrainFile in the S: directory with the new BrainFile on MegaDisc 12. You
would then enter, in order,
S:ZeroVirus.BrainFile
MegaDisc12:Programs/ZeroVirus/ZeroVirus.BrainFile
S:ZeroVirus.BrainFile
(making sure that the disk the S: directory resides on is not write
protected). The Output BrainFile does not have to be the same as either of
the input BrainFiles, but for convenience's sake, it is in the above example.
When you have entered all the file/path names, you should click on the
"UPDATE BRAINFILE" gadget. A requester will then open asking you to confirm
your action. A positive response to this, and the two BrainFiles will be
UDBFed.
If any errors occur, you will be notified via requester.
To exit the program, click the close gadget.
